The crane birds are gathering. Soon they'll be gone.

The crane bird and the cat

Crane bird and a cat in the field one morning. Later two magpies came to see what's going on. Something in the ditch - the cat went down there and later walked away. It didn't mind the crane bird but was clearly disturbed by the magpies. If you've seen cats and magpies together you understand why :)

Trumpetfåglarna - The Trumpet Birds

Årets ungkarlar går omkring och stärker sig inför nästa års parbildning. I fjol var de tre stycken. De kommer väldigt tidigt på våren. Jag undrar vad tranor äter när det är snö och is på marken? På bilden reser de fjädrarna på hjässan och trumpetar åt en kråka, som vågat komma för nära. Jag älskar deras ljud.

This year's bachelors wander on the fields gathering strength. Next year they will try to find wives. Last year there were three of them. They come very early in spring. I wonder what crane birds eat when the ground is covered with ice and snow? At the picture they raise the feathers on their heads and trumpet at a crow which came to close. I love their sound.
