Troll butter and weavers

That's what it looked like yesterday evening, and this morning:

Fuligo septica, in Swedish trollsmör, "troll butter", "scrambled egg slime" (amongst other names) in English.

The spiders are busy in the nights, weaving fantastic, incredible traps:

Our whirlygig looks so nice in the mist. It's really running wild up in the pine tree! A horse from a fantasy story!

And Kasper shows his beautiful autumn colors:

Master spinner and weaver

We still have something to learn.

No, we won't disturbe this new inhabitant of our house. Soon the net will become dusty and it'll start breaking up. Then the spider will move to another place, and we can clean up. Until then we enjoy that masterly piece.

Morning with the spiders

Hundreds and hundreds of spider webs everywhere! And mushrooms. Only the mushrooms are sometimes difficult to see.

Spinnexpert, expert spinner

Spinnexperter

Professional spinners

In the beginning of December nature can look like this, even if we're far in the north (about latitude 60). The spiders have been busy during the frosty night. In the following afternoon the wind had already teared the nets apart. It still looked fantastic in the wood. There was spiders' webs everywhere. You don't have to feel sorry for the "ladybird" on the photo: it's a leaf!
